Welcome to the Prevention Resource Center 9

Prevention Resource Center (PRC) 9 is a program of the Permian Basin Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (PBRCADA) and serves 30 counties in West Texas. The PRC is the data repository and trainings liaison for substance use and misuse in Region 9. 

The Prevention Resource Center (PRC) is dedicated to capturing the needs of Region 9 communities by identifying gaps in resources, current drug trends, drug prevention resources, and prevention training needs.

Training

Trainings include Health and Human Services Commision required trainings, research-based trainings', narcan training and other training pertinent to the field of substance use and misuse.

Data

Data collected include substance consumption rates, relevant criminal rates (e.g., DWI, DUI, family violence assault), mental health data, and demographical data.

As of 2024 so far 351 Deaths can be accounted towards Fentanyl

45% of children will try tobacco products before the age of 18

The 2022 TSS indicated that almost 10 percent (9.8%) of students in Region 9 participated in
binge drinking ‘during the past 30 days’.

Prescription Drugs

Out of the 14.4 percent of students in
Region 9 who state that they had ‘ever used’, 7.6 percent say that they had used ‘within the
school year’ and 5.0 percent state that they had used within the ‘past mont
